I entered because I needed to get out of a bad situation quickly.</p> <p>My home situation had become unsafe and unsustainable. My mom was exhausted. I was exhausted. We were trying to hold together a level of care that was too much for one overwhelmed family caregiver, especially in a rural area where outside help was difficult or impossible to get reliably.</p>
